These adorable Mini Deep Dish Pizzas are a super simple, family-friendly dish. Whether you’re entertaining on game day and have many mouths to feed or want an easy and light dinner, this is the perfect recipe for you.

There’s pizza, and then, there’s deep dish pizza. With those gorgeous, high-rimmed edges of buttery crust, it is known for the thick, warm layers of cheese, sauce, and toppings. Not to mention, it’s so hearty and filling that it serves a whole meal with just a few slices.

If you’ve had deep dish pizza before, you know it’s hard to say no to a deep dish when you’re ordering. However, when it comes to making it… a totally different story.

Fortunately for you, these Mini Deep Dish Pizzas are so easy it hurts and come together in just minutes. All you need is a muffin tray, some pizza dough, red sauce, blended cheese, Italian seasoning, and if you want, pepperoni.

In fact, while it takes 25 minutes to cook, the preparation takes barely 10 to 15 minutes.

It makes for the perfect appetizer or quick and easy dinner for all ages. Whether your kid is having a slumber party or birthday party, you’re hosting a Superbowl party or watch party, or you want something a little more substantial to go with a light salad as dinner, this recipe will work. I swear by it!

The best part about this Mini Deep Dish Pizza recipe is that it is super customizable. Your little ones can help make their own pizzas or you can make multiple batches in one go.

I used a simple red sauce, cheese, and pepperoni combination in this recipe. However, you could mix up everything from the sauce to the cheese to the toppings. Some great topping ideas include:

  • Olives
  • Jalapenos
  • Crumbled bacon or sausage
  • Plant-based meat
  • Diced bell peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Ham
  • Spinach

And so much more. Get creative! It’s a fun activity to make these with people you love (big or small) so have fun with it.

I like to use some seasoning as well, mainly Italian seasoning, which typically includes oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, and sage. Pre-made blends like Italian seasoning make it easy to incorporate that classic Italian flavor into your pizza in just a couple of shakes.

However, you could use whatever spices and seasonings you like, such as garlic powder, red chili flakes, and more. You could even put out extra marinara sauce or ranch for people to enjoy with their Mini Deep Dish Pizzas.

At the end of the meal, you’ll be glad that these Mini Deep Dish Pizzas are easy to clean up, because all you need to do is clean up the muffin tray.

Kitchen Hacks for the Best Mini Deep Dish Pizza

One thing you’ll definitely want to do is grease your muffin pan before lining each tin with dough. This will prevent your mini pizzas from getting trapped in the muffin tray and sticking to the bottom. You can use an oil spray of any kind to do this. Olive oil works great!

To get the right size on your mini dough, I used a cup to cut out my circles. However, if you’re okay with being less precise, feel free to simply cut your dough up into squares and fit them in each muffin tin. The natural crust that forms gives a homey look to the pizzas!

Trust me, once you make these once, you’ll wonder where this recipe has been all your life. It’s unbelievably simple I can’t even put words to it! I highly recommend doubling the recipe and freezing some for later. After your second batch has cooled, you place them in a single layer in a Freezer Ziploc and freeze for up to 2 months.

So, the next time you feel too lazy to cook something, you’ll be thanking yourself for that batch!
