With only three ingredients, these Oven-Baked Apple Chips are the best healthy snack recipe you’ll ever come across. Not only is it a super simple recipe, but it actually tastes incredible! It’s a great family-friendly snack for when you’re craving something sweet and crunchy.

Whether it’s apple picking season or you have a sweet tooth, I have the perfect sweet and healthy Apple Chips recipe for you. These tasty homemade chips are the most beautiful combination of all your favorite fall flavors. It’s basically an Apple Pie in chip form – in other words, out-of-this-world delicious.

Unlike what you typically find in stores, however, these Oven-Baked Apple Chips are not deep-fried in oil, which makes them not only super tasty but also healthy.

Apple picking during the fall is an absolute blast until you have two bags full of apples sitting on your counter that you’re not sure what to do with. In fact, that’s where I came up with this recipe – the burning desire to get rid of some of those apples!

Three years ago, this recipe was an absolute HIT, Back then, I used an air fryer (and still love to use one!) but now, I make it in the oven for a few reasons:

  • You can make a ton of apple chips in one go.
  • The chips are more evenly dehydrated, and therefore, make better chips.
  • Your home smells like fall for the whole day!

In fact, one of my favorite reasons to make this recipe is to get the house smelling like fall. Those beautiful, warm scents of apple and cinnamon blend together so well. In fact, if you’re a fan of this recipe, you’ll definitely also enjoy my other apple-based snacks, like Caramel Apple Bark or Braided Apple Puff Pastry.

Once you make these, you’ll want to stock up because they’re so good! You can store yoour Apple Chips in snack containers, Ziplocs, mason jars – whatever makes your heart happy. I personally love to use Weck Jars because they are high-quality glass jars, crafted speciically to help with home sustainability.

How to Make the Best Oven-Baked Apple Chips

To make the best Oven-Baked Apple Chips, you’ll want to ensure you get the best crunch out of your chip. I find that a dehydration rack is really helpful with this recipe.

Dehydrating dramatically reduces the moisture content of your food. In this case, it helps get that perfect crisp for your chips, but it also allows your food to last longer and still taste delicious.

You could use a machine dehydrator or a rack as I did. It’s super helpful to get rid of all the natural, excess liquid in your apples. Plus, doing so will let you store these chips for up to a week!

However, if you want to avoid buying another piece of kitchen equipment, I don’t blame you. You can try this recipe wthout the rack and instead, leave your chips in the oven for a bit longer (around three hours should do the trick!).

Another thing you can do for the best apple chips is use a mixed variety of apples! Not only will it keep things interesting, but you can experiment with many different types of apples.

Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji or Golden Delicious will all work well and are widely available at local grocery stores and apple farms. You can also opt for a Granny Smith if want a tart option.

What’s great is you can enjoy your Oven-Baked Apple Chips by themselves or you can get creative! I Try chopping and sprinkling then over yogurt with granola, on top of salads, with your oatmeal, in your trail mix, and more.
